On Friday the 3rd of February, the Expand a Sign head office played host to our annual National Sales Conference. This year marked the first time in years in which our entire sales team spanning Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town have been together – with special guests Adrian “Big Daddy Cool” Queenan (ExpandaBrand USA) and Matt “The Mad Ozzy” St. Ledger (ExpandaBrand Australia) making a rare appearance.
2017 has brought a renewed energy with it and we wanted to showcase this in our own unique and individual ways – as only we at Expand a Sign know how to do. Each department was encouraged to leave a positive and lasting impression on the sales team, whilst providing a clear overview of what each department is responsible for at Expand a Sign. From a mind boggling magic show put on by our IT guru which focused on perseverance to an amazing gumboot dance performance from our men at Stores illustrating the importance of teamwork. Every team made an exceptional effort that’s bound to resonate far beyond the conference.
With the formalities out the way, it was time for the sales reps to team up with the management staff and have a little fun of their own. 11 teams consisting of 1 driver and 3 passengers, took part in an “Amazing Race” themed race around Durban. The objective was simple. Use teamwork (and Google) to decipher the clues for various landmarks around Durban, take a selfie proving you were there and return to the start point as quickly as possible. First team back completed the race in record time but unfortunately got one of the clues wrong. 3 minutes later team 2 arrived with all their clues correctly figured out and eventually walked away with the R1000 each prize money. Unfortunately, one of the teams is still driving as they believed one of the clues to be in Egypt. Good luck and see you next year.
