A great leader always leads from the front!
That’s exactly what we experienced on the day with Don and a great team of guys (Wade, Kirsty, Donovan, XO, Sakhile, Shaun, Tyron and Shaun from Inflatables) who embarked on our Durban harbour to help clean up the mess.
With high spirits the guys got going, the stench was almost unbearable at times and the heat was blistering. Even though the guys worked hard and pulled mountains of crap from the ocean over two hours they hardly made a noticeable dent, with a few volunteers trickling in while we were there. With sewage pouring into the harbour and people littering, the reality is we are fighting an even bigger war.
The challenge starts with us making a conscious effort to reduce the use of plastic.
