This Mandela Day, staff from our Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg offices carried out various activities to ensure we did our bit to retain Tata Madiba’s legacy.
The Durban team spent 2 days at the West Ridge High School just around the corner from our head office. West Ridge High School is a pre-vocational school aimed at providing education, to learners with learning disabilities and we felt that we needed to invest in and uplift our community rather than work on projects outside of our community. As a company, we provided each of the 821 learners and 81 staff members with pencil cases made from recycled fabric through our Uzwelo Bags initiative.
Our Johannesburg team put together hampers consisting of everyday items we take for granted. These hampers were then handed out personally by our sales team to homeless people for homeless people on the streets of Joburg.
Each hamper consisted of the following:
Roll on deodorant
Clothes donated by the office
Finally, our Cape Town team along with our wonderful Marketing Manager, spent some time at the Mother Theresa Healing Centre in Blackheath. Here the team handed out goodie bags which they put together and spent some quality time with the occupants having some tea and a bit of a chat.
